When asked to direct a piece for DSL students that experiments with form, Lucy chose [BLANK] by Alice Birch — a play originally co-commissioned by the National Theatre's Connections festival and Clean Break, before receiving its full-length premiere at the Donmar Warehouse.

 

Alice Birch's script hands directors 100 unordered scenes and invites them to build their own play from the fragments — a formal challenge that spoke directly to Lucy's training with Clean Break and her passion for the play's subject matter.
